Smoking: Safer than we thought!

One in 20 hospital beds are occupied by someone with a smoking-related illness

OK, so a ratio of 1 in 20 equates to five percent, which means that 95 % are not in hospital due to the alleged effects of smoking or passively smoking tobacco. They are there for some other reason sometimes bad luck but often lifestyle/work related. It is interesting that they don't seem keen to tell us much about that much larger percentage
A prospective patient this morning

I say alleged because they refer in the article to smoking related diseases, not condition that have been  proven to be caused by smoking. If we assume that some of those who are hospitalised with 'smoking related' conditions actually have developed those conditions from other sources then the ratio starts to look even better. The more they try to scare people then the more their lies are exposed as the fantasies of nannying control freaks.

  1. Almost as scary as the figures showing that in fatal/serious injury road crashes 95% of drivers are stone cold sober.

  2. Statisitics can mean anything you want them to mean. A couple of years ago, the AA ran a campaign saying that 1 in 4 cars that break down are serviced by their owners rather than a garage. That means that 3 out of 4 cars that break down are serviced at garages. Moral - do the bloody thing yourself. Anyway, it's well know that 67.9% of statistics are made up!

    1. I think you'll find that it is 87% of statistics are made up. I am 95% sure of that.
