Coming soon; the backdoor Stasi state.

Predictable really, when you have dumbed down the population with an ever shittier education system, quietly removed or subverted a whole raft of rights, and poisoned the minds of whole sections of society, convincing each that the others are out to get them. It is is easy to prey on their fears and misconceptions. Add in the fairy tale  fear factor of 'climate change', the mythical danger of second hand smoke/alcohol/fat, trash the economy and convince the population that a paedophile lurks behind every bush. Is it then any wonder that that this sort of righteous shit gets such a positive response?

'Cameraphone lynch mob': Former police chief's volunteer scheme to catch drivers who use mobiles at the wheel

The comments to this piece are absolute gold !
Do people really want a finger man on every corner? Yes, they do it seems. Of course it all sounds so sensible when it is dressed up as a road safety measure, as we have seen with tobacco control it won't stop there though. Soon we could have whole squads of volunteers, armed with digital cameras or  mobile phones taking pictures of everything that was even possibly illegal and reporting it to police, or the council perhaps. Just imagine how much money could be raised if an army of concerned citizens were to photograph every parking transgression?. Makes you wonder why they haven't had this type of society before doesn't it? You know, one where every one watches everyone else and it's all quietly fed back to the gummint. The society that is so rigidly controlled that any transgression can be interpreted as a subversive act, against the welfare of the state and the good of the people.

We have have known that type of society before, and I visited it a few times.
It was known as the DDR last time around. I wonder what it will be called next time

  1. There is a further stage to a completly subjected status. It comes after snitching has become accepted as normal when those who fail to snitch are themselves suspected of lacking in loyalty given the pervasive anti social behaviour that so obviously exists.
